| Personal Statement:Dear Students,If you’re having trouble with that advanced math or science class let me be the one to help you clarify the concepts and commit them to memory. I have been studying these subjects since my junior year of high school and through the years, especially at UCSD, have developed a strong skill set which I will do my best to impart upon you before you take your exams. Chances are, if you’re taking courses of this magnitude, you’re planning on a career in the sciences or perhaps healthcare. I was in the same boat several years ago and in July I will be starting dental school at the University of California, San Francisco. I know what it takes to excel in these classes and can assist you every step of the way (on that note, if some of you are actually in the process of applying to medical school and can assist with essays, etc. as well). My tutoring in some science classes is based on a technique that several of my classmates and I used when we were in your shoes that focuses mostly on connecting each main idea to all the others in an attempt to create a flowchart of information in your head. I have found that, for me, this approach works more efficiently than just trying to separately memorize each concept or cell of information, it also helps you see the big picture involved. Many teachers design their lesson plans in similar fashion so you may find that the method integrates well with your instructors teaching style. In any case, I will do my best to figure out how you learn (because we all do it differently) so that I can efficiently augment your instructors lecture and you can excel in that previously troublesome class. | |||
